Dubai is no stranger to extravagance when it comes to cars, but, to some, your license plate number can be just as important as the car it’s on. On Saturday night, an auction at Emirates Palace hotel saw 800 guests all gunning for the perfect license plate.
Although license plates are notoriously pricey, Abu Dhabi plate “2” sold for a whopping Dhs 10.1 million to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Abu Dhabi Police Force. Plate “11" ranked second with a winning bid of Dhs 6.45 million whilst plate number “10” recorded the third highest bid with Dhs 5.4 million.
Over Dhs 55 million was raised for Abu Dhabi Police in the sale of 60 Series 1 Abu Dhabi plates.
