Dubai Police rush to help girl locked in a room

A 17-year-old girl, who was locked in a room sought help from Dubai Police. Using her Instagram page, the girl messaged Dubai Police to aide her after being locked in a room by her parents. The girl was unable to escape the room, which she had been in for two days.

According to the girl’s mother, the girl was being punished for going to a restaurant with her friends without her parents’ consent.

Lt Col Saeed Rashid Al Haili, director of the department of child and women protection at the Dubai Police human rights division, said that upon receiving information about the situation of the teenage girl, a team began attempting to locate her. They eventually managed to get the home address of the girl and found her.

The parents were asked to sign a pledge that they would not repeat their actions.

This is one of twenty cases of child abuse that have been reported to the police during the third quarter of the year. The cases include one mother, who had abandoned her 16-year-old son in an apartment and fled to the Netherlands.
