The RTA is offering commuters free books

Invest your travel time wisely and enjoy a wide selection of books free of charge, courtesy of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Based on the UAE’s vision of reading as being a key pillar in the development of the community, ‘Read with RTA’ was developed as an initiative to deliver hundreds of books to readers at no cost.

Hard copies will be available at public transport libraries with an extensive selection of books from all genres set up in Metro stations. They’ll be placed conveniently in the passenger area next to the entry and exit points in the station, and you can borrow and return books easily when you make your metro trips.

Not a book-lover? Well, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying a book. Take advantage of the e-books collection available in multiple languages including English, Arabic, Urdu, Malayalam and Tagalog.

What’s more is that RTA in association with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Foundation is launching built-in bookshelves called ‘Knowledge chairs’.

It’s a new and innovative library that lets you relax in comfort with a book at various locations. Currently there are chairs in Rashidiya and Abu Hail Bus Stations, customers’ service centres at Umm Al Romool and Al Barsha and at Public Transport Agency in Muhaisna.

Download the app or enjoy a book at one of the Knowledge Chairs placed around the city to further instil the love of reading!
