British expat charged with murder in Dubai

Gulf News Editor-at-Large Francis Matthew has been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution after confessing to killing his wife because of marital problems according to Dubai Media Office (DMO). The Public Prosecution is currently investigating the murder case and reviewing evidence, forensic reports and statements from witnesses.

In a series of tweets DMO stated Dubai Police received a call on Tuesday, July 3rd, from the defendant claiming that his wife, Jane Matthew, had been assaulted by burglars at their home in Jumeirah. Initial reports showed that death resulted from a strong blow to the head with a hard object, which raised suspicion about the husband. The suspect confessed during interrogation that he had assaulted his wife and threw a hammer at her without intending to kill her.
