Dubai Police has impounded 13,657 electric scooters over an eight-month period following an intensive traffic enforcement campaign across the emirate. The ongoing drive aims to curb reckless riding habits, prevent severe accidents, and protect all road users.
Traffic officers targeted severe violations, particularly individuals riding on major roads with speed limits exceeding 60 km/h, despite the presence of designated scooter paths in many areas. Police teams also stopped riders travelling against traffic, using pedestrian footpaths and narrow alleys, weaving across road dividers, and riding recklessly through commercial markets.
All e-scooters must be equipped with a functional white front light, a red rear light with reflectors, and efficient braking systems. Police reminded residents that compliance with traffic laws is a mandatory safety responsibility aimed at preventing severe injuries and keeping Dubai’s roads safe for everyone.
