The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has inaugurated a new four-lane, 700-metre bridge on the southern side of the Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street intersection. The structure, designed to carry up to 6,000 vehicles per hour, opened to traffic on Sunday, 9 August 2026.
The newly opened bridge channels eastbound traffic along Al Qudra Road heading toward Al Qudra City. It complements a parallel structure opened earlier this year that handles westbound vehicles travelling toward Umm Suqeim, completing the main flyover configuration at the junction.
The upgrade directly serves more than 400,000 residents and visitors across adjacent communities, including DAMAC Hills, Arabian Ranches, Town Square, and surrounding residential zones. Once all phased ramps open later this year, waiting times at the junction will drop from nearly seven minutes to one minute, an 85% reduction in delay. Total traffic capacity through the intersection will increase from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour.
For daily commuters travelling between central Dubai, Dubai South, and the inland residential developments along Al Qudra Road, the new bridge eliminates a major bottleneck. The improved layout ensures uninterrupted traffic movement across the main arterial lanes while surface traffic transitions through structured lanes underneath.
