Etihad Rail Al Dhafra Passenger Stations Fast-Tracked

Travel across Abu Dhabi's western region is set to open up earlier than expected. Etihad Rail confirmed that passenger stations in Madinat Zayed and Liwa will open on 30 November 2026, advancing from the originally planned 30 December launch.

The directive was issued by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, following a project review with an Etihad Rail delegation led by Chief Executive Shadi Malak at Al Nakheel Palace.

The revised schedule aligns directly with the launch of Al Dhafra's winter event and festival season, including the annual Al Dhafra Festival, ensuring seamless travel for visitors from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and beyond.

The acceleration highlights the UAE's continued drive toward an integrated, low-emission public transit network connecting business hubs, residential communities, and cultural destinations across all seven emirates.

Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi and Al Hilal City in Fujairah opened last month, and Dubai's station in Jumeirah Golf Estates and Al Dhaid in Sharjah are scheduled to open on 30 September. After Madinat Zayed and Liwa stations open on 30 November, stations in Al Sila, Al Dhannah and Mirfa in the Al Dhafra Region will open on 30 December and the University City station in Sharjah slated to open on 30 March 2027.
