Visitors to the UAE can now open digital bank accounts and receive debit cards, following a new initiative launched by the UAE Central Bank, alongside the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank.

The system enables tourists to register using biometric-based verification, allowing them to quickly set up accounts during their stay.

Once activated, users can access a digital debit card and carry out cashless transactions across the country, including payments for shopping, dining and services.

The service is available across all emirates, and is designed to improve financial convenience for short-term visitors.

The move supports the UAE’s broader push towards a cashless economy and digital banking ecosystem, reinforcing its position as a global leader in fintech innovation.

The initiative will also help streamline spending for tourists while boosting transparency and efficiency in financial transactions.
