Hafeet Rail, a joint venture between Etihad Rail, Oman Rail and Mubadala Investment, announced the completion of 40% of the Oman-UAE rail connection project.
Spanning 238 kilometres, the project aims to develop high-efficiency transport system, to support trade flow, enhance supply chain resilience, and contribute to deeper economic integration between the UAE and Oman.
Construction is advancing in full swing across four key strategic locations including Al Ain Region, Al Buraimi, Sohar, and Wadi Al Jizzi.
Over 27 million cubic metres of earthworks has been completed to date, alongside 10 million safe man-hours achieved without any major injuries. Concrete works have exceeded 100,000 cubic metres, while tunnel excavation progress marks a key milestone. Major structures are also advancing, with 80 structures under construction at various stages, alongside the execution of 900 concrete piles.
The Hafeet Rail project will also establish the foundation for future passenger rail services, supporting tourism, business mobility, and social connectivity between Oman and the UAE, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the UAE’s national development goals.
