A major, new sustainability drive is about to reshape how Dubai manages its waste. The new initiative, called Circle Dubai, was launched by Dubai Municipality under the slogan 'Reduce...Reuse...Recycle...Together we make a difference'.
At its core, Circle Dubai seeks to divert 100 percent of waste from landfills by 2041, with at least 56 percent to be recycled. The programme introduces a comprehensive roadmap to reduce waste generation at the source, modernise collection systems and embed sustainable habits across the community.
As part of this initiative, residents can take an active role in promoting eco-conscious living in their communities by being part of Dubai Sustainability Ambassadors programme.This will be run in collaboration with Furjan Dubai initiative, the community-based volunteer group, wherein residents across neighbourhoods will be invited to participate in zero-waste practices through a host of activities, challenges and campaigns. Another standout feature of Circle Dubai is a new digital education platform that offers sustainability training tailored to different sectors.
Dubai Municipality is inviting residents to participate in Circle Dubai by undertaking sustainability training through the digital education platform and also to join awareness campaigns and other activities through Dubai Sustainability Ambassadors programme.
