World Bank Praises UAE For Empowering Women And Youth

WAM

The World Bank has praised the UAE for creating one of the most progressive environments in the region for women and young professionals, calling it a model of human development and opportunity.

UAE’s approach, according to World Bank, offers a blueprint for the wider Middle East region to create economies that are more dynamic, diverse and future-ready. Inclusive workplaces, better job flexibility, and stronger family support systems were all recognised as key factors that make the UAE one of the best places to live and work.

Following the release of World Bank's latest report focusing on the Middle East and North Africa region, Fadia Saadah, Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan Region at the World Bank highlighted the UAE’s 2022 labour law reforms, which introduced part-time, temporary and remote work options, giving women and youth greater flexibility to build careers while managing family life.

The report also noted that enhanced parental leave, along with affordable childcare and early childhood development programmes, has helped many families find a better work-life balance.

The UAE’s flexible visa system, including the Golden Visa and Green Visa, was also recognised for attracting skilled professionals and freelancers, while its labour protection policies, such as unemployment insurance and wage protection, ensure fair working conditions.
