The countdown to a new era of travel in the UAE has begun. Etihad Rail has confirmed that passenger train services is on track for its launch in 2026, transforming connectivity across the country with fast, efficient, and comfortable journeys.
The passenger service network will link 11 key cities and regions, stretching from Al Sila in Abu Dhabi to to Fujairah, while passing through areas including Ruwais and Al Mirfa in Abu Dhabi, and also through Dubai and areas in Sharjah like Al Dhaid.
Travel times will be significantly reduced. It will take just 57 minutes from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, and one hour and 45 minutes from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. A high-speed line will also connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai in only 30 minutes, reaching speeds of up to 350kph.
Each train will accommodate up to 400 passengers, with multiple daily trips. Stations will be designed for easy access and seamless first and last-mile connections. Onboard, travellers can expect dedicated spaces for work, relaxation, or family time, making rail travel an attractive alternative to road journeys.
The project is forecast to contribute Dhs 145 billion to the economy over the next 50 years, while offering a sustainable, safe and modern transport solution.
