Etihad Rail, the developer of the UAE National Railway Network, has announced that its long-awaited passenger train service will launch in 2026, marking a major milestone in the UAE’s transport and infrastructure development.
The announcement followed a high-level briefing given to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi. During the meeting at Al Dhanna Palace, His Excellency Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, and his delegation provided an in-depth update on the UAE National Railway Network’s development, with a particular focus on the upcoming passenger line.
The passenger train service will connect major cities and regions in the UAE, delivering a sustainable and efficient alternative to road travel. The launch is part of a wider strategy to position the UAE as a regional leader in advanced transportation systems. Once operational, the rail service is expected to carry millions of passengers annually and serve as a key component of the country’s long-term sustainable development goals.
