RTA And Dubai Holding Sign Agreement To Enhance Development Across Key Areas

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Holding have signed a Dhs 6 billion agreement to develop critical road infrastructure and access points across the emirate, supporting urban expansion and improving mobility for residents and visitors.

The agreement will see major road and bridge enhancements across several Dubai Holding communities, including Dubai Islands, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Palm Gateway, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Park, Arjan, Majan, Liwan (Phase 1), Nad Al Hamar, Villanova and Serena.

Additionally, key road upgrades will take place at Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Palm Jumeirah and International City (Phase 3) to reduce travel times by up to 70% and improve traffic flow across multiple intersections.

Key Road And Infrastructure Enhancements:

  • Jumeirah Village Circle: Four new access points will be developed, doubling capacity at entry and exit points, reducing congestion and improving travel efficiency by 70%.

  • Dubai Production City: New bridges will be built for smoother access from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, reducing internal road congestion by 50%.

  • Business Bay: Surface improvements at Sheikh Zayed Road intersections and a new pedestrian bridge on First Al Khail Road will enhance pedestrian safety and cut travel time by 30%.

  • Palm Jumeirah: Six acceleration and deceleration lanes will be added, along with two new pedestrian bridges, ensuring safer crossings and reducing travel time within Palm Jumeirah by 40%.

  • International City (Phase 3): Expansion of entry roads from Manama Street, additional lanes, and upgraded intersections with traffic signals will reduce travel time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes.

This agreement, with its proposed improvements, is expected to bring about key changes in the road infrastructure and shape the future of urban mobility in Dubai.
