Dubai Police has revealed the locations of Ramadan Iftar cannons, a long-standing tradition in the UAE. The ceremonial cannons, fired twice on the eve of Ramadan and once daily throughout the month, serve as an official announcement of Iftar, marking the breaking of the fast at sunset.
This year, eight stationary cannons will be positioned across Dubai at the following locations:
- Expo City Dubai
- Burj Khalifa
- Uptown Mirdif
- Festival City
- Wasl (Dubai Real Estate Corporation)
- Hatta Fort Hotel
- DAMAC Hills
- Salt Camp at Kite Beach
In addition to the stationary cannons, a mobile cannon will visit 17 locations including Al Meydan Hotel, Satwa Mosque, Al Marmoom, Za’abeel Park, Al Khawaneej Majlis, Festival City, Al Wasl 1, Madinat Jumeirah, Barsha Park, Lahbab, Nad Al Sheba 1 - Al Ghaf, Uptown Mirdif, Margham, Nazwah, Nad Shamma Park, Burj Khalifa and concluding at Jumeirah Kite Beach.
The Ramadan cannon tradition in Dubai dates back to the 1960s, offering a symbolic and cultural experience for residents and visitors during the Holy Month.
