The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has introduced four new services to help resolve worker status issues and waive administrative fines for businesses during a two-month grace period, which runs until 31 October. This initiative, part of the 'Towards a Safer Society' campaign, is for violations that occurred before 1 September 2024.
The services include issuing, renewing, cancelling work permits, and handling work abandonment complaints. They are available for those with expired work or residency permits and those facing work abandonment complaints, including both employees and domestic workers.
During this time, businesses can also apply to have administrative fines waived for not submitting employment contracts or renewing work permits.
MoHRE is now accepting applications for resolving status violations through its website, the MOHRE mobile app, available on Apple and Google Play stores, as well as at business service centres and domestic workers' service centres.
The Ministry has pledged to process applications quickly and efficiently around the clock, ensuring a flexible and streamlined process. It has simplified its services by integrating them and removing unnecessary paperwork to provide a more convenient experience.
MoHRE encourages both workers and employers to use the grace period to correct their status. This initiative offers a chance to resolve previous issues and continue working in the country or, for those who prefer, to leave without facing legal penalties.
