Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced traffic enhancements on Umm Suqeim Street with the opening of a new 500-metre street leading to Kings' School. This new street, featuring two lanes in each direction, connects the school's entrances to a newly constructed detour. The upgrade is expected to improve vehicle access to the school and reduce traffic congestion by up to 40% during peak hours.
The improvements are part of the Umm Suqeim Street Enhancement Project, which covers 4.6km from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This project improves connectivity among four key roads: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. It will increase the street’s capacity by 30%, allowing for up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
Additionally, RTA has provided 200 temporary parking spaces for the 2024-2025 school year to accommodate teachers, parents, and students. This measure aims to ensure orderly parking, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic safety, contributing to Dubai’s reputation as a top city to live in.
