Dubai Police Urges Motorists To Exercise Caution During Unstable Weather

UAE residents can expect more rainfall this week, with heavy showers forecasted by the National Centre for Meteorology on 2 and 3 May. To ensure public safety, Dubai Police has advised motorists to be cautious due to the unstable weather conditions.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasised the need for drivers to be cautious and vigilant amidst the current unstable weather conditions in the country.

Additionally, authorities have highlighted the importance of reducing speed, keeping a safe distance, avoiding distractions, and refraining from taking photos or using phones while driving. Motorists are also urged to steer clear of valleys and flood-prone areas.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui stressed the importance of caution, advocating for reduced speeds on external roads. He emphasised the necessity of ensuring that all vehicle parts, such as the engine, tyres, brakes, wind screen wipers, and lights, are in working condition.

Here Are Important Things Dubai Police Wants To Keep You In Mind

  • Avoid sudden stops without signalling and maintain a safe distance behind the vehicle in front.
  • Always wear seat belts and refrain from using phones for photography or other distractions while driving.
  • Stay in your lane and change lanes only when necessary.
  • Remain alert at turns, in low-lying areas, and on open roads to avoid water pooling.
  • Use hazard indicators if your vehicle breaks down and move it off the roadway to prevent accidents.
  • Reserve the use of four-way flashers for emergency stops to ensure their availability for severe emergencies and turning signals.
  • Refrain from reckless driving, showing off, or drifting on roads, as these actions endanger lives and property.
  • Offenders risking road safety will face arrest, vehicle impoundment, and legal consequences.
