The heavy rainfall in the UAE caused significant disruptions to airline services. Emirates, Air Arabia, flydubai, and Air India cancelled and diverted flights to Dubai as airport operations were halted. Many passengers faced challenges collecting their luggage upon arrival due to technical issues amid the unstable weather. However, as the recovery phase progresses, Emirates Airline is gradually returning to normalcy. Emirates Airline announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that baggage collection is now open for passengers whose final destination was Dubai but were unable to collect their luggage upon arrival.
How Can I Collect My Baggage?
First and foremost, only visit the airport if you receive a call from Emirates' local team. Emirates advises against going to the airport to collect your baggage until you are contacted by the team. Now, once you receive the call, here are some steps that you need to follow:
- Travellers should head to the left luggage arrivals area in Terminal 3, located opposite exit 1 and behind Boots Pharmacy.
- It's essential to bring your baggage tag along.
- The collection area operates round the clock, 24 hours a day.
- Emirates' team will also provide bag delivery services to individuals who have filed a report, although this process may take some time.
Emirates has also notified that passengers with delayed baggage and an existing file reference number (PIR), can obtain information and updates regarding their luggage at this link.
The airline also extended an apology to its customers for the delays experienced during this period, indicating that it would require "additional days to address and resolve the backlog resulting from the disruption caused by the storm."
Stay tuned for all the developments.
