Dubai International Airport (DXB) is experiencing disruptions in its operations following an unprecedented storm that brought the heaviest rainfall in 75 years to the UAE. DXB had to temporarily suspend operations for 25 minutes on Tuesday, 16 April, due to the bad weather conditions. Now, as the recovery efforts progress, DXB has resumed flights of airlines operating out of Terminal 1. It has also released a travel advisory for passengers via X, previously known as Twitter.

"Due to crowding, access to DXB's Terminal 1 is now strictly limited to guests with confirmed departures. We urge you not to come to Terminal 1 at the airport before confirming your flight status with your airline. Re-booking facilities are not available on-site," the statement read.

Amid the ongoing chaos, DXB has responded to several relevant enquiries from passengers. Here are the questions and answers provided:

Is The DXB Airport Open?

DXB is open but with limited flights departing and arriving. The airport authorities urge you not to come to the airport unless absolutely necessary.

What About Passengers Whose Flights Are Diverted? How Do They Get To DXB?

Guests on diverted flights will either be sent back to DXB or disembarked at alternative locations in the region. DXB suggests to check with the airline for status updates.

What To Do When The Bags Are Checked-In But The Flight Was Rescheduled/Cancelled

DXB's baggage handling operation has been disrupted due to the weather. They are working closely with the service partners and airlines to expedite the delivery of bags to passengers.

If One Has A Flight Scheduled, Should They Go To The Airport?

DXB urges passengers to come to the airport only if and when the airline has confirmed the departure of the flight.

Food And Beverage At The Airport For Stranded Passengers At The Airport

DXB is diligently working to provide refreshments to waiting passengers, managing supply challenges from flooded roads, with food being distributed at Terminal 1 and 2, while Terminal 3 restaurants remain open and accept meal vouchers.
