His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has launched the 'Dubai Farms' program. This initiative provides various services and incentives to support Emirati farmers with productive agricultural projects.
The 'Dubai Farms' program is in line with the goals of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It aims to enhance living experiences in Dubai, empower citizens, boost their role in the economy, and ensure their financial independence and social stability.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan stressed the vital importance of local agriculture in Dubai. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan said, "Today we launched the ‘Dubai Farms’ program to support productive Emirati farmers, by offering them a full suite of incentives and services that support the development of the emirate’s agriculture sector and enhance the sustainability of crops, all leading to enhanced contribution to the emirate’s GDP. We will continue our efforts to make Dubai’s agriculture more productive and sustainable."
His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said the ‘Dubai Farms’ program, to be implemented by Dubai Municipality, aims to offer farmers a comprehensive package of services and incentives, including workshops, regular lab testing, partnerships, social support and other incentives that help their farms continue operating and become highly productive, all in support of Dubai’s Food Security Strategy.
Highlights Of Dubai Farms Program
- The Dubai Farms program supports Emirati farmers by providing incentives and services to develop the agriculture sector and enhance crop sustainability, ultimately contributing to Dubai's GDP.
- Offered through Dubai Municipality, the program includes farming consultation services, subsidised supplies, lab testing, pest control, and assistance in meeting local market demands.
- Events like the 'Best Home Garden' competition, the Gulfood Agrotech exhibition, and 'Local Dates Week' will be organised to promote local farming.
- Incentives also include competitive prices for supplies and machinery, along with initiatives like 'Plant Your Food', which aims to encourage house gardening, the Hatta Farming Festival and other seasonal farmers market events.
- In addition to launching the farmers’ association, the Smart Farming Platform, which supports Dubai Municipality’s digital transformation efforts, will help provide technical details, improve efficiency and raise awareness among farmers.
