His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued orders to facilitate the dispatch of critical relief supplies mobilised by the International Humanitarian City (IHC) in Dubai as part of a vital relief air bridge to Gaza through El Arish Airport in Egypt.
Emphasising Dubai's strong dedication to humanitarian efforts, a plane departed early on Wednesday, 21 February, carrying around 11 metric tonnes of medicines and medical supplies sourced from the World Health Organisation (WHO). The flight is headed for El Arish Airport, where the vital aid package will be handed over to a WHO team responsible for further distribution into Gaza.
The airlift heading to Gaza marks the beginning of several similar missions planned for this year, with three to four additional flights scheduled to provide much-needed aid to the people of Gaza. The shipment consists of crucial supplies like non-communicable disease kits and medicines, requiring careful monitoring of temperature controls during transportation. IHC and its partners diligently manage the logistics of the operation to guarantee the safe and punctual delivery of aid to those who require it.
