The highly anticipated annual UAE Tour, a premier professional cycling race, will be heading to Dubai on Thursday, 22 February. The first stage of the race began on 19 February in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi, and after crossing two stages in Al Hudayriyat Island and Ras al Khaimah, stage four will take place in Dubai on Thursday. Stage four of this event will showcase cyclists traversing through iconic routes, including Dubai Harbour, Palm Jumeirah, Deira, and Downtown Dubai. Hence, to ensure the safety of participants and spectators alike, some routes in Dubai will be temporarily closed to the public between 12pm to 4.30pm on Thursday.
The race kicks off at the Dubai Police Officer's Club in Al Jaddaf, serving as the starting point for the thrilling journey. Cyclists will embark on a challenging route from 12.30pm, and the estimated finish time for this stage is 4.30pm.
Hence, in preparation for the event, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced road closures along the race route on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Please set out early to reach your destinations smoothly, as traffic will be temporarily suspended for 10-15 minutes at specific street intersections while runners are passing, in coordination with Dubai Police," wrote RTA.
These closures will remain in effect until the conclusion of the race, allowing for a smooth and safe passage for the cyclists. Below is the detailed map route for road closures for your reference.
If you're planning to travel along these routes on Thursday, it's advisable to leave early and carefully plan your journey, taking into account the temporary closures.
