An earthquake measuring 2.8 magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded in the UAE on Monday night, 8 January, at 11.03 pm. The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) confirmed the minor quake update on its social media platforms.
Recorded at a depth of 3km in Masafi, a mountainous village on the Fujairah-Ras Al Khaimah border, slight tremors were felt by residents. Furthermore, NCM confirmed in their report that the minor quake was felt without any effect.
NCM in the UAE actively watches seismic activity, issuing early warnings to ensure people's safety.
