Camel Trek Participants Reach Global Village After 12-Day Journey Through UAE Desert

WAM

The 10th edition of the annual 'Camel Trek' is here, and the participants of the annual trek have arrived in the Heritage Village of the Global Village after venturing on a continuous 12-day journey through the UAE desert, starting from the Arada area in Abu Dhabi and concluding in Dubai. Organised by the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, the participants travelled 557 km, crossing diverse locations across the UAE desert.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, personally met with the annual Camel Trek participants at the Seih Al Salam area in Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, Dubai. During the meeting, he was updated on the journey's progress. The expedition included 37 participants from 16 countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Austria, India, China, Australia, Mexico, Russia, Belarus, and the UAE.

The Camel Trek experience created a lasting bond for participants, bringing together a French mother and her 10-year-old daughter in a remarkable 12-day journey through the heart of the UAE desert.

The mother intentionally chose this challenging adventure during the holiday season to offer her daughter a unique experience, away from the usual luxuries. Wanting her to understand the challenges people face, the mother aimed to showcase the resilience and determination behind the UAE's progress.

Joining them was a British skydiver, who found the journey as challenging as his skydiving experiences, and a Mexican participant who found the trek both difficult and thrilling, offering a break from the routine.

Saif Kitab Al-Suwaydi, an Emirati participant, views the camel as a cherished symbol of heritage for every Emirati. He sees the journey as a tribute to the era of their proud ancestors, considering it both challenging and beautiful.
