Dubai Metro is one of the best public transport systems in the world. It consists of the Red and Green Lines, which collectively serve the major populated areas of the Emirate. And now, Dubai Metro is all set to get an update with a new line. The metro is set to get a Blue Line that will link the current Red and Green Lines, spanning 30km.

With a length of 30km, 15.5km will be underground and 14.5km above ground. The Blue Line is said to have 14 stations, with seven up, elevated and five underground stations. To kick things off, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is looking for contractors who want to be part of the new design and build project. If your company is interested, you can show your interest by downloading a form from this link. After filling it out, you should send the signed and stamped form to cpdepartment@rta.ae by 2pm on 24 November.

The contract also covers providing 28 driverless trains, building a depot for up to 60 trains, and constructing all the needed roads, buildings, and utility changes. The project is just getting started, but it's definitely some exciting news for folks who use public transport in Dubai.

When it comes to the current setup, the Green Line stations are in Bur Dubai and Deira, which are part of the old town. Meanwhile, the Red Line links the old city and the airport to Downtown, Dubai Marina, and Expo 2020 in the Southwest.
