Attention Abu Dhabi residents, get ready to lace up your shoes as the renowned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Abu Dhabi Marathon is gearing up for its fifth edition, scheduled for 16 December. The race will kick off right in front of ADNOC headquarters on Corniche Road and is anticipated to draw a record-breaking crowd of 23,000 participants. This exciting race, commencing on Corniche Road, will traverse through some of the capital's most iconic landmarks, including Al Bateen Palace, Qasr Al Hosn, and the World Trade Centre.
The race will end at the ADNOC Campus, near Baynunah Public Park, where a race village will be set up for participants and viewers.
The 42.195 km race organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the ADNOC, boasts a substantial prize pool of $303,000. The objective is to establish the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon as a prominent marathon event in the Middle East. To accommodate runners of varying abilities and to offer ample training chances, the organisers have confirmed the return of the Race Series Edition for 2023. This allows participants to engage in shorter-distance races as a prelude to the main event.
The Race Series, designed to assist runners in their training, accommodates individuals of all skill levels and objectives. The first of this year's pre-race events occurred at Yas Mall on 2 September, offering distances of 1km, 2.5km, and 5km. The second Race Series event took place on 7 October at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, with distances of 1km, 2.5km, 5km, and 10km. The third race is scheduled for 4 November at Al Hudayriyat Island, featuring distances ranging from 1km to a 21k Half-Marathon.
Offering distances of 1km, 2.5km, 5km, and 10km, these races are set to be enjoyable community runs and excellent training sessions leading up to the main event on 16 December.
Furthermore, the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon Village will be bustling from December 12 to December 15, providing a wonderful experience for the families and friends of the participants.
