UAE residents will enjoy a three-day weekend from 29 September to 1 October to mark Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday. On this occassion, several emirates have declared free parking and toll gate waivers during the extended weekend. In Abu Dhabi, residents can take advantage of free parking starting from Friday until 7.59am on Saturday. This free parking applies to surface parking areas and extends to the Mussafah M-18 truck car park as well.
Besides this, darb tolls in Abu Dhabi will also be waived on Friday, and charges will resume on Saturday during the regular peak hours between 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm. Public buses in the emirate will operate as usual.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced free parking for Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday. As per the update, service provider centres will be closed during this holiday and resume duty on Saturday, 30 September. All customer happiness centres will be closed during the holiday; the smart customer happiness centres at Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Kafaf, and RTA Head Office will continue service 24/7 as usual.
Except for the multi-level parking terminals, all public parking will be free on Friday, 29 September, and the parking fees will commence from 30 September.
The Sharjah City Municipality has announced that public parking throughout the city will be complimentary on the 28 and 29 September. However, make a note that the 7-day paid parking zones, distinguished by blue information signs, will still be paid parking during the holidays and weekends.
