The Sharjah government recently announced a four-day long weekend to mark Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday. The Department of Human Resources confirmed on social media that public sector employees will have a four-day weekend, with the holidays starting Thursday, 28 September.
And now, the Sharjah Private Education Authority has also declared that staff and students in private schools will enjoy an extended weekend as Thursday, 28 September, has been declared as a holiday to mark Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday.
This decision results in a longer break for Sharjah compared to the rest of the UAE.
The three-day weekend policy has been in effect in Sharjah for a while now. Hence, private schools in Sharjah will enjoy a four-day weekend.
Public schools in Sharjah, like those in other parts of the country, will continue to operate as usual on Thursdays under the oversight of the Emirates Schools Establishment.
For other emirates, residents will have a three-day long weekend from 29 September to 1 October in honour of Prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) birthday. The Federal Authority For Government Human Resources and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation have declared Friday, 29 September, a public holiday for public and private sector employees.
