UAE Sends Total 622 Tonnes Of Humanitarian Aid To Libya

WAM

Libya has witnessed a tragic loss of life due to the devastating floods and relentless rainfall. In response to this crisis, the UAE has dispatched over 622 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Libya. This aid comprises essential medical and healthcare provisions aimed at helping the potential outbreak of diseases triggered by stagnant water, as well as personal hygiene items and food supplies to support those impacted by this emergency.

As part of the relief effort, more than 28 aeroplanes delivered help to the hardest-hit places, including the city of Derna, after a hurricane-strength storm lashed the area on 10 September, sweeping thousands of people into the sea. The Emirates Red Crescent started a program to assist those affected, and they sent shelter, food, medical supplies, and necessary items to the areas that suffered the most damage.

As per WAM, the UAE acted quickly to support the humanitarian relief efforts in Libya, where floods and heavy rains caused a severe crisis. Following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), ordered the ERC to provide urgent humanitarian aid to flood victims in Libya.

Just last week, a special team from the UAE went to Derna to assist in identifying the flood victims. There were 26 experts from the UAE, and they brought the necessary equipment with them. Their mission was to begin the process of identifying the victims, who had either been found in the debris or taken from the floodwaters.

The UAE's humanitarian aid in Libya demonstrates its dedication to assisting allied nations during adversity.
