Dubai's leading fresh food destination, the Waterfront Market, along with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, is set to once again host the Murals and Art Competition.
Back for its sixth year, the competition highlights local talent and enhances the art scene in Dubai.
The theme for this year's event is 'Art For Change', in light of COP28 being held in the UAE, as well as 2023 being marked as the 'Year of Sustainability'. Participating artists can explore their creativity through murals and use art as a method to raise awareness of environmental issues, and promote sustainability.
The winner of the competition will be awarded Dhs 30,000, and will have their work showcased at the Waterfront Market, and also during Dubai Art Season 2024, held from 1 to 4 March 2024.
Mohammad Al Madani, Waterfront Market Manager said, "This year's theme focuses on harnessing the power of art to drive positive change in society, while raising awareness and advocating for urgent environmental issues in alignment with COP28, scheduled to take place in Dubai later this year. We are thrilled to witness the incredible artworks that will be brought to life by our talented local artists and eagerly await the winner's mural, which will be proudly displayed at a prominent location at The Waterfront Market and celebrated as part of Dubai Art Season 2024."
Participants need to be UAE residents aged 18 years and older, and can submit entries before 26 November through The Waterfront Market website.
