Dubai Municipality has intensified inspections at over 500 educational establishments, in preparation for the 2023 to 2024 academic year.
Held as part of the 'Our Schools are Healthy and Safe' initiative, the inspections will ensure the safety of food, drinking water, swimming pools and essentials for schools.
Food safety inspections were held at nurseries, kindergartens and schools, with 216 permits issued by Dubai Municipality to companies, to provide nutritious meals for students and ensure health standards.
Over 400 water samples were collected from tanks, and swimming pools in Dubai, to monitor the quality standards. Facilities at educational institutions were also assessed, in order to maintain air conditioning and ventilation systems.
To prepare for the new academic year, Dubai Municipality has launched the 'School Food Safety Champion' program, which aims to educate students on the importance of food safety and a healthy diet, and includes a series of workshops to encourage healthy eating, and reduce food waste at educational establishments.
