The Perseid meteor shower, a unique phenomenon, is happening this weekend.
Over 100 meteors will light up the sky, and can be seen leaving trails as they fall. The visibility of the showers depends on clear skies, best viewed before a new moon.
The meteor showers are termed 'Perseid', as it originates from the constellation, Perseus, and takes place yearly from mid-July to late August.
The best time to view the showers is on Saturday, 12 August at night and in the early morning on Sunday, 13 August.
UAE residents looking to catch a clear glimpse of the meteor showers can view them from the Al Awir Desert in Dubai, organised by Dubai Astronomy Group.
Registration for the event is now open on the Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre website.
