Dubai Police has arrested a gang of beggars, that were caught outside mosque entrances, clinics, hospitals and shops, using cars with number plates from neighbouring countries.
The group of beggars were accompanied by women and children, in an effort to gain sympathy by asking people to give them money, so that they can return to their home countries.
The arrest is part of the 'Begging is a Wrong Concept of Compassion' campaign, which aims to reduce the number of beggars and street peddlers in Dubai.
Dubai Police advises the public to not fall for the pleas of beggars, and instead go through official charities and organisations to make monetary donations
Any sightings of beggars should be reported through the call centre 901, or the Dubai Police app.
