The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has launched an awareness campaign to manage the increase in the number of stray dogs in Abu Dhabi.
The initiative aims to encourage individuals to avoid abandoning dogs, due to an increase in the number of dogs in residential areas.
Through the initiative, owners of farms and ranches are advised to keep dogs within the premises, and check whether the fences are in good condition to avoid dogs from wandering.
Food waste should not be left around, and stray dogs seen, should be reported.
In 2024, the municipalities affiliated with DMT will manage the increase in the number of dogs by sterilising stray animals, providing guidance on handling them, and hosting awareness campaigns.
