Dubai has updated the traffic fines for drivers, which are now in effect.
Drivers that break violations will have their vehicles impounded and will then have to pay fines of Dhs 100,000, Dhs 50,000 and Dhs 10,000 to release them.
The police will have the right to impound vehicles that have accumulated fines of Dhs 6,000 and more, and will only be released after the fines have been paid.
To release the vehicles that have been impounded, all fines need to be paid off, violations need to be cleared and any terms set by the Dubai Police need to be followed.
Drivers that do not claim their vehicles after the period the car is impounded for, will have to pay a Dhs 50 fine per day.
To release impounded vehicles, a Dhs 10,000 fine will have to be paid for these violations:
- For modifications made to vehicles
- Driving without licence plates
- Evading the police
- Increasing the tint on vehicles and windshields without permission
These violations will have their vehicles impounded and a Dhs 50,000 fine will be received to release the vehicles:
- Individuals driving under the age of 18 years old
- Intentionally crashing into a police car and causing damage
- Driving with a number plate that is fake, covered or used
- Jumping a red light
- Riding a motorcycle on paved roads
- Driving that poses a threat to other people and properties
Additionally, drivers that partake in road races without special permission from the police will be charged with a Dhs 100,000 fine.
Non-Emirati heavy vehicle drivers that jump red lights will face deportation.
