In a meeting of the UAE Cabinet, a council against drugs was launched and the UAE National Sports Strategy 2031 was approved.
Chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the meeting was held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
The National Council Against Drugs are responsible to develop a strategy to prevent the use of drugs and raise awareness of the ill effects of them, with a provision available for medical and psychological treatment for recovered addicts. Additionally, the newly formed council will combat drug trafficking in the country and across the UAE borders.
The UAE Cabinet also approved the UAE National Sports Strategy 2031, which will cater to enhancing the wellbeing of the community. With 17 initiatives to be launched in the upcoming years, the aim is to increase the rate of public participation in sporting activities by developing the skills of sports professionals and discovering talented athletes in schools.
