Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has added over 17,500 new signs in parking zones around Dubai. The signs show the four methods drivers can pay for parking in the dedicated zones, as well as provide details on the hours that the parking zones are active and the fees applicable for parking.
Parking can be paid via scanning four QR codes, which lead to different payment methods through the RTA App, WhatsApp, SMS, or App Clips for iPhones.
The QR code for the RTA App leads to the dedicated app, which drivers can then use to make the payment.
For WhatsApp, the QR code will lead the driver into an interactive chat, where they can enter the time they want to park and the details of the vehicle. A confirmation will be sent once the payment goes through.
The QR code for making payments through SMS creates a format of the text message, which the driver can then fill out to pay the parking fees.
With App Clips for iPhones, drivers can pay through Apple Pay and do not need to download a separate app to make the payment.
Around 80% of drivers prefer to pay via their phones and tablets, as revealed in the latest report, the signs help in ensuring drivers are fully aware of the multiple methods they can make the payments through.
