His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the master plan for the futuristic development of Palm Jebel Ali.
The project is set to be twice as big as Palm Jumeirah, and will be developed by Nakheel, the Dubai-based real estate master developer.
Palm Jebel Ali will offer individuals with waterfront living opportunities and will also mark the expansion of the corridor in the Jebel Ali area.
Spanning an area of 13.4 square kilometres, around 35,000 families will be able to enjoy living in luxury beachside areas.
Additionally, Palm Jebel Ali will have over 80 hotels and resorts, offering a wide range of entertainment and leisure facilities that will contribute to the tourism sector in Dubai.
The project will also feature neighbourhoods within walking distance, incorporate smart city technologies and sustainability practices, and offer a variety of transport options for residents and visitors.
On completion, around 30% of Palm Jebel Ali’s energy will be generated from renewable sources.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said, "We have vast ambitions for the future and we are confident that we can transform our grand vision for development into reality. Palm Jebel Ali will further strengthen our urban infrastructure and consolidate the city’s emergence as one of the world’s leading metropolises. This new groundbreaking project reflects our strategic development plan centred on raising the quality of life and happiness of residents."
