Meta has announced that WhatsApp is launching a new feature called Chat Lock, that offers users an additional layer of security to protect their private chats.
A chat can be locked by tapping on the chat or group and clicking the lock option.
On locking a chat, the contents will be hidden in notifications and show up in a separate folder that can only be accessed through passwords or biometrics.
To view the chats, the user can scroll to the top of the inbox and clicking on the locked chats option, access the chats through it, after entering the password or fingerprint.
The feature has already started rolling out, and over the next few months, custom passwords and locks for companion devices will be launched.
