To all the people looking to change their everyday life and make it more productive and fun, here are some things you can do to make the upcoming year a great one.

Set Attainable Goals

Before the New Year begins, we tend to over plan for the year and set a lot of goals. As the goals we set need to be achieved while also finding a social, personal as well as a work balance, they tend to get pushed to the back burner and eventually forgotten.

To work around this, it is key to set goals that are easier to achieve based on the time taken to complete the goal and the amount of free time required to achieve it. 

Declutter Your Space

Start the New Year on the right foot with a clean space. A cluttered home can make you feel disorganised and will in turn make you less productive. Before the new year starts, enlist the help of the family to clean up the house.

While cleaning up, make sure to declutter the house and to get rid of or donate items like clothes, shoes and toys that are no longer in use and are just taking up space. Also, avoid clutter by finding a designated home for all your belongings.

Create a Routine

By creating a daily routine, it can get easier to budget in the time to hone in on your goals for the year. Having a daily routine can help in planning the day better, manage stress levels as the day is already planned as well as give you extra free time to do the things you would like to do.

To start piecing together a daily routine that works for you, look at your work and social calendar and base your goals around the days you have free time, which will help hold you accountable in achieving the goal, during the year.

Make a Vision Board

If you are more of a visual person, the best way to achieve your goals is by creating a vision board. A vision board is created to help a person visualise their dreams through the form of pictures and quotes and is a daily reminder to stay motivated to attain the goals set.

Creating a vision board is based on personal preference, it can be pictures from magazines, personal pictures, inspiration pictures and quotes, to remind you of the goals you want to achieve. 

Find Joy in Little Things

With all the changes the pandemic brought as well as the experiences learnt during lockdown, it is important to focus on the little things in life that give you joy and can help in staying positive and not getting easily frustrated.

By finding joy in little things, like a cup of coffee in the morning or a phone call with a loved one, we can focus on the good things in life rather than the hardships.

Be More Present

In the day and age of technology, it is extremely easy to get distracted. With having a device to cure boredom attached to our hands, it can get really difficult to separate the digital world with reality.

For the new year, make being present a priority, by either turning off your phone when with people or taking breaks from social media, which will help in creating special memories with family and friends that you will treasure for the years to come.
