Motorists visiting Dubai Harbour can now pay for parking automatically using their Salik accounts, eliminating the need for physical tickets, cash payments, or paper receipts. The new smart, cashless parking system is in place at the newly built Harbour West Car Park.

The initiative is part of a strategic partnership between Salik Company PJSC, Dubai's exclusive toll gate operator, and Shamal Holding, the diversified investment firm behind Dubai Harbour.

The joint announcement was officially made through a formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, and Abdulla Binhabtoor, CEO of Shamal Holding, during a dedicated corporate announcement event in Dubai.

How the Technology Works

The system, developed in technical collaboration with parking technology provider Parkonic, operates without physical barriers or paper tickets.

  1. Plate Recognition: Cameras equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) scan the vehicle's registration plate upon entry.
  2. Duration Tracking: The system automatically calculates the exact duration of the stay.
  3. Automated Deduction: When exiting, the corresponding parking fee is charged directly to the driver's funded Salik eWallet, with an instant SMS transaction receipt sent to their mobile phone.

The multi-storey Harbour West facility spans nine floors, offers 845 parking bays, and serves key adjacent commercial and leisure hubs.

The standard rate is Dhs 10 per hour (with any part of an hour charged as a full hour), and visitors spending a minimum of Dhs 150 at participating Dubai Harbour retail outlets can validate their digital receipts to receive one hour of complimentary parking. Monthly parking subscriptions are also available for regular commuters.
