Abu Dhabi is set to make waves this week as it hosts the Kite World Cup for the first time. Taking place from 25 October to 30 October, the Kite World Cup is part of the Fahid Island Watersports Festival, which runs from 25 October to 2 November. Fahid Island is located between Abu Dhabi's Yas Island and Saadiyat Island.

Kite World Cup will include a range of exciting events, including hydrofoil big air, freestyle surfing, and surf foiling competitions, among others. These sporting events combine surfing and paragliding, wherein athletes use large kites to catch the wind, allowing them to glide, spin and perform acrobatic jumps across the water. Some of the world's best kiteboarding athletes will be competing, including Kylie Belloeuvre from France, Borja Vellon from Spain, Justin Chait from the USA and the UAE’s own Mohammed Al Mansoori.

The exciting competitions will transform the 11km coastline of Fahid Island into an arena of water, wind and energy. There will also be beach entertainment, interactive zones, live performances and shows, and family-friendly experiences.

The Fahid Island Watersports Festival is open to the public for free, making it an ideal outing for families and sports fans. Events will be held from noon to 6pm on weekends and 1pm to 6pm on weekdays.
