Dubai has done it again and this time it has marked it’s presence in the list of top global maritime leisure destinations.
Norway-based Manon Business Group announced that the emirate became one of the top ten maritime capitals last year, and the 5th in terms of competitiveness and attractiveness.
With an influx of waterfront projects already underway and new, recreation-friendly initiatives that aim to support the maritime industry, Dubai is well on track to fulfill Manon’s prediction that it will become one of the world’s most important maritime destinations by 2022. Dubai is already a boat friendly place, with many marinas running the full length of the emirates' coastline, couple that with recent developments such as the Dubai Water Canal, as well as new developments under construction including Dubai Harbour, the 20 million sqft Meraas development that alone will increase Dubai’s berth capacity by 50%, up from 3,000 to around 4,500 spaces for yachts, it is no wonder popularity is increasing.
The global maritime community will turn to Dubai from February 27th to March 3rd this year, as the Dubai International Boat Show begins at the newly opened Dubai Canal.
