Tea is a huge part of Dubai life and now Dubai has served up the biggest cup of it in the world. Over this past weekend at Global Village, a team of one-hundred-and-thirty-eight chefs from the UAE’s Culinary Guild prepared 5,000 litres of karak chai. It was then presented in a 3.66-metre cup and served to visitors for free.
The leading chef of the UAE Culinary Guild and the tea project, Uwe Micheel said that the crew of chefs worked from 9am to 3pm, used only the finest ingredients and were closely monitored by municipality agents and the adjudicator from the Guinness World Records organisation to make sure the tea met all health and safety standards.
The entire display could fill about 55,000 cups and will be replacing China’s record of 4,050 litres of tea. Another win for Dubai on the world record stage!
