How To Get Your ‘Good Conduct Certificate’

The goal? To make Dubai one of the safest cities in the world.

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers No. (1/80) of 2017, from 4th February applicants must provide a police clearance certificate from their home country or the country they have been residing in for the past 5 years now to obtain a work visa. It should also be validated by UAE missions abroad or attestations centres.

And since Dubai is pretty much 85% expat workers this is major news! And though new requirements can be daunting, don’t worry because obtaining the certificate shouldn’t be too difficult because Dubai Police has tweeted an entire online application system, accessible via app or website with all the information.

The link has all the details including the application process for long term UAE residents, UAE nationals, for expats obtaining the certificate from outside the country, and the costs. Currently the fee for UAE resident expats is Dhs 220, and you will also have to have an identity card number.

So, here’s the run down on what you’ll need:

  • Emirates ID
  • Email Address
  • Service Fee
  • Access to Dubai Police website/app/call/or office

If all goes well, going about getting the certificate should take no more than 5-15 minutes and should make Dubai a safer place for us all.
