From 4th February 2018, individuals coming to the UAE for work will now be required to provide a ‘Good Conduct and Behaviour Certificate’ before receiving a valid work visa.
The document must be from the applicant’s home country, valid for the past five years, and must be attested by UAE missions abroad or a \t a customer happiness centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The new requirement for the visa protocol is part of efforts to maintain the safety and security of the UAE work environment. According to the Emirates News Agency it is “based on its belief in the importance of protecting the community, which will provide it with security and make the country one of the most peaceful in the world."
The certification will also be required from expats coming to the UAE solely for work, but is not required from dependents and will not be necessary for visitors and tourist visas.
