Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a Ramadan awareness campaign, to create awareness and reduce accidents during the Holy Month.
As part of the campaign, 40,000 awareness leaflets, Iftar meals and Ramadan gifts were distributed to taxi drivers, delivery bike riders and workers across the emirate.
RTA also seeks to develop digital awareness tools to reach the widest possible segment of the public to create awareness on road safety.
As part of efforts to enhance road safety, the RTA has reminded heavy vehicle drivers about truck movement restrictions during Ramadan across major routes in Dubai.
The restrictions apply to the E11 corridor from the Sharjah border to Interchange 7 on Sheikh Zayed Road, covering Al Ittihad Street, Sheikh Rashid Street and Sheikh Zayed Road. The route also includes Deira and Bur Dubai city centres, Al Mizhar and Oud Al Muteena near the Sharjah border, and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street from its junction with Al Khawaneej Street.
During Ramadan, the restricted hours will run from 7am to 11pm, instead of the usual 6am to 10pm.
