Dubai is gearing up for what’s expected to be one of the biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations. More than 2.7 million people are expected to use public transport for the festivities around Burj Khalifa. To help manage the crowds and traffic flow, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released a detailed plan covering taxis, buses, parking, and road closures.
Shuttle And Bus Services
For those planning to watch the fireworks, taxis will be available at specific parking areas such as Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf. Once the New Year’s Eve displays wrap up, shuttle buses and taxis will be ready to help people leave the area quickly and safely. These buses will take guests to metro stations and parking zones, with free RTA buses running to taxi stands at Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf.
Public buses will also connect the venue with nearby metro stations and other designated points to make departures smoother. If you’re not heading to Burj Khalifa, free buses will be available from Swissôtel Al Murooj Dubai to the Al Wasl Club and Al Kifaf parking areas.
Parking Arrangements
Drivers are encouraged to arrive before road closures begin in Downtown Dubai and make use of Emaar district parking, including spots at Dubai Mall, Dubai Mall Zabeel, Fountain View expansions, and Boulevard Lower parking. Parking and stopping will be banned on major roads surrounding the celebration area, such as Al Khail Road, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai–Al Ain Road, and Oud Metha Road, to keep traffic moving. Park-and-ride facilities offering around 20,000 spaces will also be available for visitors travelling from outside central areas.
Public Transport
Over 1,300 buses, 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousines, and 64 metro and tram stations will be in operation. Authorities urge people to rely on the Dubai Metro, tram, and bus network to ensure a smooth journey.
That's not all! Dubai authorities are fully prepared to deliver a safe, world-class New Year’s Eve celebration across the emirate.
Nearly 10,000 Dubai Police officers will be on duty, supported by 1,625 security patrols, bicycle and mounted units, marine rescue boats, and 37 support tents, along with more than 13,500 private security personnel.
Emergency preparedness includes over 1,750 Civil Defence personnel, 165 response vehicles, 236 ambulances, 12 hospitals and field clinics, and around 1,900 medical staff, working alongside teams from Dubai Municipality and DEWA. Click here to know more.
