Al Maktoum Archives Launched To Preserve Dubai’s Rich Legacy

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the Al Maktoum Archives, a new institution dedicated to preserving the historical and intellectual legacy of Dubai’s rulers.

Accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the launch showcased a collection of materials chronicling the lives, works, and achievements of the Al Maktoum family, from the late nineteenth century to the present day.

The archives documents biographies, photographs, book collections and other literary contributions while highlighting the family’s instrumental role in Dubai’s transformation into a global cultural and economic centre. The facility will also serve as a key reference for decision-makers, researchers and academics exploring leadership, governance and social development in Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed described the archives as "An open book offering insights on the history of governance in Dubai as a model for advancing development", and "A reference for those seeking the secrets of our successes and the essence of the leadership and humanitarian experiences of men who dedicated their lives to serving the nation". 

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed also emphasised the importance of preserving national heritage, saying, "Preserving our national heritage is our duty and the right of those who come after us. The story of a ruler is inseparable from the story of his people. The leaders and people of the UAE will remain one in spirit".

The launch also featured historical photographs, family records and rare publications that together celebrate the enduring vision and legacy of Dubai’s leadership.
